ANCHORING THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF ONENESS

With the holiday season approaching, now feels like the perfect time to count my blessings and pay extra close attention to what I give my attention to.

This year, we’ve experienced so many stressors — heightened levels of fear and confusion, periods of isolation, polarization, possibly illness and even loss. We have witnessed heartbreaking social injustice that rocked us to our core.

These stressors encouraged us to question certain perceived truths and shift our perspective so we can discover our own truths — what is truly important and how we want to show up in the world. Some of us began considering new ways of living, maybe ways that were once inconceivable. 2020 asked us to go within so we could begin to transform our lives from the inside out. Transformation can be painful but it is necessary for growth and expansion.

As 2020 comes to a close, I’ve lost count of all the ways I was reminded this year that every single problem in the world is rooted in separation. The only way to resolution is to move into connection.

It’s true that stress creates change, but change is still an inside job. We can choose at any time to shift our focus toward healing — the relationships with ourselves, with others and with our planet.

It can sometimes feel impossible to open our hearts and recognize our shared humanity, but someone must step up and choose to move in the direction of love — so those who struggle to see our connectedness have an example to follow. It’s our duty as human beings to be aware that we are here to give.

Personally, it’s been a challenge for me to determine how I can best serve others during these chaotic times we’re living in. I could feel surges of the collective energy rise and fall with the ‘breaking news’ cycles. I wrote a lot. I pondered the possible far-reaching impacts that could unfold in the future.

Throughout 2020, I worked on several projects, and it was my hope that they would eventually create a positive impact in the world in some small way. I’ve had continuous reminders that it doesn’t actually matter what inspired action I choose to take — it only matters that I do it with joy and with the intention to anchor the consciousness of Oneness with every thought, action and interaction, because it is my purpose.

No matter what the mission, my intention is always to serve in ways that support my purpose, with every energetic exchange.

In 2018, I experienced a synchronous moment that sparked such a mission — a grassroots summit that would spread the awareness of Oneness across the globe. I was sitting on my porch on a cloudy spring day, when I witnessed a truly magical moment. Seemingly all at once, the dark clouds parted and the sun shone bright, a rainbow appeared, a warm breeze blew, all the birds began to sing and a tiny, white feather landed on my keyboard. In that brief moment, a wave of recognition came over me — of the interconnection of All That Is. My heart filled with joy.

“In the stillness of your presence, you can feel your own formless and timeless reality as the unmanifested life that animates your physical form. You can then feel the same life deep within every other human and every other creature. You look beyond the veil of form and separation. This is the realization of oneness. This is love.

— Eckhart Tolle

“Oneness is not just a spiritual platitude. It is a belief, core principle and life-defining orientation that we are all interconnected. This ‘we’ is not restricted to just humanity. The ‘we’ includes all living things.

— Todd Hoskins, 2018 Oneness Summit co-host

WHAT IS ONENESS?

Oneness is the Truth of All That Is. It is a state of being that cannot be expressed in words. The easiest way to describe Oneness is to first explain what it is not.

We live in a world where oppression, hunger, poverty, murder, illness, war and destruction reign. The reason for this is due to a collective belief that we are separate — and that our success and safety can only be secured by competition, punishment and greed. We are destroying precious resources, creating massive suffering and perpetuating loneliness because of the belief that we are separate.

In a world of contrast, our third-dimensional reality appears to us that everything is clearly separate. Therein lies the duality. Because our human experiences are known through contrast, we could not know love without knowing fear. We could not know pleasure without knowing pain. We could not know connection without knowing separation. While separation is the experience of our current existence, it does not represent the entire picture.

Quantum physics teaches us that we are all constituted from the same energy and every living thing is created from the same material. We are connected to everything; in essence, we are pure consciousness expressing itself in different forms. We are life, trying to know itself.

“You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in a drop.

— Rumi

We can experience Oneness through purity of consciousness, which occurs in present awareness. It is a simple, yet profound truth that our thoughts and actions create an impact that affect the whole, directly and indirectly. In order to make Oneness known collectively, we must begin with ourselves. As we elevate our own consciousness, we lift up everyone else. This is how we will embody the concept of Oneness, together as one.
